Hospitality industry champion, Nick Bish, has decided that the time has come to step down from his position as Purple Story Chairman and embrace well-earned retirement.
Nick has enjoyed a long and celebrated career in hospitality and has played an important role at Purple Story, not least guiding us through the merger with the Transition business last year.
Following an early career as Regional Director with Courage and Imperial Inns & Taverns, Nick was asked to set up and run the hospitality industry trade association, the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR, later UKHospitality). He successfully led and grew this organisation for 21 years, during which time he established and championed the Operations Managers Awards.
Out of this benchmark competition and Masterclass he later focused on the challenge of transforming skilful unit managers into successful, confident multi-site leaders. This was when he reconnected with Karen and was proud to align the two businesses (Purple Story & Transition) into one company whose sole aim is to help others succeed.
Karen Turton, Purple Story Founder and CEO:
"Thanks to our shared values and drive to set individuals, teams, and businesses up for success, I was delighted when we were able to successfully merge Transition with Purple Story and Nick became our Chairman. Nick has been a great personal advisor to me for many years.
“Nick’s highly successful career in hospitality means he is highly regarded throughout the industry, and I’m sure he will be missed by many. On behalf of Team Purple, I’d like to thank Nick for his time with us and wish him a very happy and richly deserved retirement. Nick will always be a great friend to Purple Story, and I know he’ll be cheering us on our onward journey.”
“My mission has always been to get hospitality businesses to focus on making individuals excel and equipping them to reach their potential. Following on from the ALMR Operations Managers Awards, it’s why I set up Transition and why I so hugely admired Karen’s unstoppable passion, energy, and talent in pursuing the same objectives.
“It was entirely sensible to fold Transition’s business into Purple Story and I was delighted to be asked to be Chairman to achieve that merger. It was an unexpected but gratifying extension to my long career in hospitality and I like to think I’m now retiring and stepping down on a high note. I look forward confidently to seeing the continued exponential growth in Purple Story’s success and influence.”
